As the pre-college outreach and public engagement unit in the Grainger College of Engineering, WYSE offers a variety of summer enrichment programs for pre-college youth from near and far. Get a taste of college life while exploring various engineering fields or researching side-by-side with Illinois faculty and students - in Champaign-Urbana, in Chicago, and virtually.

Engineering Summer Camps

Each summer, WYSE offers engineering summer camps at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for middle and high school-aged students. Students experience authentic & challenging projects & activities, world-class instructors, and a collegiate experience from one of the best engineering schools in the world. Get to know different areas of engineering through demonstrations, lab tours, presentations, hands-on activities, and interactions with students, staff, and professors in those fields.

Young Scholars Summer STEMM Research Programs

Rising 10th-12th graders from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Iowa, and Wisconsin are invited to apply to participate in an authentic STEMM research experience at a world-class research university for 6 weeks during the summer. Students will gain hands-on experience in areas at the forefront of various STEMM fields, such as cancer immunology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, physics, quantum mechanics, bioengineering, electrical engineering, and more!

Digital Scholars Program in Chicago

WYSE partners with the Digital Scholars Program at the Discovery Partners Institute in Chicago, IL. This is an intensive summer program for high school and first-year college students to build computing skills, increase college and career readiness, and make connections to Chicago's dynamic tech community.
